Scholarships
The Lisa Atlas Genecov and Dr. Jeffery S. Genecov Endowed Presidential Scholarship provides three $3,500 scholarships for three 2L, 3L or LLM Texas Law students with a demonstrated commitment to advancing women’s issues and gender equity. This includes legal work in nonprofit, pro bono, government, and legislative settings.
The Wayne B. Duddlesten, Sr./Center for Women in Law Endowment for Excellence Fellowship was established by the Wayne B. Duddlesten Foundation to support Texas Law students of high academic achievement with a preference given to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing women’s leadership. The recipient of this scholarship receives $6,000 and is referred to as the Duddlesten Fellow. As a Duddlesten Fellow, this student interns with the Center for Women in Law during the academic year.
The Center for Women in Law is a national resource and champion for women lawyers, generating lasting change within the legal profession. Both the Genecov Scholarship and the Duddlesten Fellowship are actively seeking applicants who are interested in the Center’s strategic objectives:
- Advocating for systemic change in the legal profession;
- Supporting multiple paths to success for women pursuing legal careers at all levels;
- Empowering and encouraging women lawyers to confidently build, navigate and advance their careers;
- Celebrating the strength of individuals and the power of community to change the legal field;
- Building relationships and networks to support women lawyers; and
- Cultivating a pipeline of advocates.
Scholarships are awarded based on 1) commitment to advancing women’s leadership and career goals, 2) involvement in student organizations and interest in promoting women at the law school, and 3) alignment with the Center’s strategic objectives.

Internships
Each academic year, CWIL hires 3-5 student interns. Interns are involved in all aspects of CWIL business, including organizing and running student and practitioner focused events, research related to issues concerning women in the legal profession, corresponding with CWIL Founders and Leaders, drafting articles and press releases and editing major publications.
